Requirements: Applicants to the master’s program must have a bachelor’s degree in economics or have a degree of specialist in economics.
The history of the Faculty started in 1989 when the specialization “International Economic Relations” was introduced and with the first students enrolling in the program “International Finance”. Among the people who founded this Faculty was a group of associate professors, candidates of economic sciences: D.Lukyanenko, O.Mozgovyy, P.Petrashko, T.Tsygankova.
Officially the Faculty of International Economic Relations was founded in 1992. The first dean (1992-1994) was O. Mozgovyy. After he was appointed head of the State Commission of Stock Market and Securities Doctor of Economic Sciences, professor D.Lukyanenko became the dean of the Faculty.
After introducing a new specialization “Law” (1994) the Faculty was renamed as the Faculty of International Economics and Law, and when the Faculty of Law was founded it was renamed into the Faculty of International Economics and Management.
The Faculty offers programs enabling students to obtain bachelor’s and master’s degrees, it also has developed programs for postgraduates, and candidates of sciences wishing to up-grade their business knowledge.
More than 2800 students study at the Faculty. The faculty comprises 7 departments with 147 members of the teaching staff, including 15 doctors of economic sciences, 19 professors, 41 associate professors, and 48 candidates of economic sciences.
The Faculty incorporates a computer room with access to the Internet allowing the students to study on-line in the framework of joint international programs. Modern audio-aid rooms create favourable conditions for language learning.
The Faculty prepares students for a variety of career opportunities. Graduates typically find employment in Ukrainian companies engaged in international trade; state bodies; companies with foreign investment, affiliates and subsidiaries of international corporations, foreign investment banks, affiliates of foreign banks, investment funds and companies. The graduates are also engaged in the work of international projects financed by the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the European Union. They also work as advisors in the government and the Verhovna Rada of Ukraine. The graduates of the Faculty have a reputation of establishing a very successful career during a short period of time which makes them the economic and political elite of Ukraine. 4 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada are graduates of the Faculty. Many former students work as top-managers of large national and international corporations.
Students of the Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs are given an opportunity to combine their study at KNEU with the study at the University of Northumbria (Newcastle, Great Britain), the University of Nepier (Edinburgh, Great Britain), and other educational institutions. The Faculty has implemented a system of granting credits for the courses passed in other universities. KNEU has an agreement in cooperation with some universities in the evaluating of students. This recognition of credits gives the students a chance to be awarded two Diplomas after the completion of the fourth year of education. The students of the Master’s Program also have a possibility to combine their study at the program with the study at the certified Ukrainian-Canadian Teaching Program CTPL “Trade Policy and Commercial Diplomacy” (distant learning) and Ukrainian-German certified teaching program “International Economics” (the system of granting credits for the courses passed with a grade at the universities is applied). The graduates can also be awarded certificates of professional participants of a Stock Exchange.
