One of the peculiarities of the last several years is  the purposeful joint activity of European countries in the framework of Bologna process aiming at establishing a European Higher Education Area by 2010 fully respecting the richness of the European cultural diversity and thus also the diversity of higher education systems.

 These goals set new demands to the organization of teaching process which must foresee wide use of modern technologies facilitating the development of human and professional skills of students. 

 All these tasks are accomplished by the Educational-methodical department. This university unit has been performing educational, methodical and organizational functions with the aim of introducing progressive methods and modern technologies in the work of faculties and departments.

 The main tasks the Department accomplishes on daily basis are as follows:
- monitoring of teaching materials and text-books and organizational provision of the development of scientific and methodical basis of educational activity at the university;
- scientific and methodical provision of teaching programs development and improvement of teaching process;
- methodical and scientific provision of new methods of teaching at the university;
- conducting sociological research on teaching process and programs improvement.

In the forthcoming period the efforts of the Educational-methodical department will be concentrated on the development of program contents and improvement of teaching process. It will enable the University to offer programs of European standards and will facilitate KNEU’s process of entering the European Higher Education Area.

The practical working directions of the department are as follows:
- development of new and improvement of  existing normative and methodical material regulating the organization of teaching process in accordance with the demands of Bologna process;
- improvement of teaching programs and curricula in accordance with the modern European standards;
- improvement of the process of students’ knowledge evaluation (current and final) and formation of criteria of knowledge evaluation;
- implementation of new technologies and interactive methods of teaching, introduction of training in the teaching process;
- development and use of new technologies for the organization of programs of distant learning at the bachelor’s and master’s levels;
- improvement of training skills of the teaching staff by means of organization of training courses for professors and  teachers of the University;
- introduction of the best Ukrainian and foreign experience in teaching process.
